Congratulations Steven

We would like to pass on our congratulations to ex Withernsea High School Performing Arts student Steven Mitchell on graduating with a BA Hons in Musical Theatre Professional Stage Practice at the Arden School of Theatre

Steven is currently working on his song writing and playing in a band as well as attending auditions in London. You can catch him in his television debut in the new Match.com advert

We would like to pass on our congratulations to ex Withernsea High School Performing Arts student Sophie Kemp who graduated with a BA Hons in Dance Performance and Teaching at the University of Central Lancashire.

Sophie has recently set up her own dance classes at the Nuffield Health Club.

We Will Rock You

Year 10 Arts students had a fab time at the Dominion theatre last night, a great show with some incredible performances

London Arts Trip

Details for the London Arts Trip are as follows:
Arrive at school at 7am
Depart school at 7.30 am

Itinerary for day 1 - backstage tour of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, arrive at hotel (Hyde Park) to change for evening, tea in Covent Garden then to see the West End Smash Hit 'We Will Rock You'.

Itinerary for day 2 - breakfast at 8am, depart hotel at 9am, visit to the Tate Modern Gallery, a walk down the south bank' some shopping time and lunch in Covent Garden, a West End performance workshop at Pineapple Studios, take in the street performances in Covent Garden and head back back arriving at approximately 10pm

National Award Winners

We won a Rock Challenge national award for Rock Challenge. We won the award for best hair design out of the top 24 schools in the country which is a massive achievement so well done to all the cast, crew and staff involved in our Rock Challenge 2011 entry

Really looking forward to the London Arts Experience trip on 11th and 12th of July with a back stage tour of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, a visit to the Tate Modern, a West End performance of 'We Will Rock You', a performance workshop at Pineapple Studios and a trip to Covent Garden.

GCSE Drama, GCSE Dance, A-level Theatre Studies and a Double Dance BTEC (equivalent to 2 A-levels)

Performing Arts at WHS - first BLOG post woo hoo!

I'm a big fan of ICT and couldn't wait until our own blog is set up to get posting.
The Performing Arts team have been busy planning extra curricular activities for 2011 / 2012. I am very pleased and excited to announce that our school production is 'Grease' (student choice). I promise it will be our biggest and best yet so I need lots of you to get involved, even if performing arts isn't your thing - come along and join the fun, after your first performance you will be addicted to the buzz of performing to a live audience.
Also coming up is the Withernsea Dance Challenge (our very own in school version of Rock Challenge). Mrs Grantham will be leading assemblies in September to tell you all about it.
Lunch time clubs will also be back with Dance Club, Cheerleading Club and a new Musical Theatre Club.
There are lots of opportunities so remember that it is YOUR Performing Arts department so get involved.
